Community Service Project: Hope Lodge
2011 NPW Chapter Project
HopeLodge of Nashville

Hope Lodge provides lodging for cancer patients receiving treatment in the Nashville area.  They operate strictly from donations and are located at 2008 Charlotte Avenue
(615-342-0840).

We will be partnering with Hope Lodge of Nashville located at 2008 Charlotte Avenue on Thursday, September 8th by providing the dinner meal.  We need volunteers to provide food and help serve on this evening. LIST OF ITEMS NEEDED - please send an email to the NPW Director and advise which ITEMS you can provide.  The Hope Lodge operates from donations to provide lodging to cancer patients and their family who are far away from home seeking treatment. The Greater Nashville Chapter would like for each member and their family to participate in a wonderful community service event. Back by popular demand, we will be partnering with the American Cancer Society Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge to provide a meal to cancer patients and their families who are guests of the lodge during their course of treatment. The Hope Lodge offers 41 guest rooms, each with a pri-vate bath and television, with fully equipped kitchens and a community dining room. Other ameni-ties include living rooms, reflection room, resource library with internet computer stations and books. The goal of this organization is to provide support and lodging for cancer patients who must undergo treatment far away from home. Hope Lodge provides support and complimentary housing to help reduce the financial burden on patients and help them engage in normal everyday activi-ties.
I am very excited about the chapter being able to serve the Nashville Community by partnering with the Hope Lodge again in 2011! We are seeking volunteers to help provide items for a potato bar meal for approximately 50 guests. The meal will be served on Thursday, September 8th between 5:30 and 6:00 pm, and volunteers will be able to spend time making new friends with the residents of the Lodge before, during, and after the meal. Many of you have been able to participate with this event over the past years, and some have volunteered again with their family outside of the GNC NPW event because it was such a rewarding experience.
Donna Hutchinson and her family have graciously agreed to provide the potatoes again this year. Now all we need is for the rest of you to provide the "fixin's"!. We need items such as chili, shredded cheese, cheese sauce, grilled chicken strips, salsa, sour cream, butter, bacon bits, chopped veggies, onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, broccoli, tortilla chips, salad, salad dressing, dessert, drinks, and anything else that you can think of that goes along with a potato bar theme!
We hope many of you will be able to volunteer and make this a family event, but in case you can't make it, cash donations are also welcome.

Check out the web site for Hope Lodge to see what a wonderful service this provides to cancer patients and their families:  www.cancer.org/hopelodgenashville
